You can wear the Tech-Air 5 under any motorcycle jacket with stretch-ability or any jacket that has 4 cm/2 inches of room around the chest inside. This slim vest is easy-to-use, thanks to the zipper and magnetic flap closure. It's also lightweight since the airbag itself has air channels and a perforated back zone. All to provide you with comfort as well as safety.

Which protection does the Tech-Air 5 give?

The Tech-Air 5 gives you unrivaled upper body protection by keeping your shoulders, chest, ribs and back covered. It's the only one of its kind that has Extended Shoulder Protection that minimizes the risk of shoulder and collarbone injuries. Additionally, this airbag system has an integrated back protector. But why choose an airbag over regular protectors? The Tech-Air 5 system decreases impact force by up to 93% compared to a CE Certified passive protector. And did you know that it offers the same protection as 18 Level 1 back protectors?

How does it work?

The Tech-Air 5 is equipped with an active electronic system that has 6 integrated sensors (3 gyroscopes and 3 accelerometers) combined with a crash algorithm that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to accurately monitor when to deploy the airbag in event of a crash. This intelligent algorithm comes from years of research with over 50% of the world's top MotoGP riders, Alpinestars customers and riding data from numerous kilometers and crashes that have been analyzed. When the algorithm identifies a crash situation, the airbag will be inflated within 20 to 40ms based on the volume of the airbag size. Connectivity

The Tech-Air 5 has a LED display (on the vest) that indicates the operational status and the battery has a battery life of 30 hours of riding time. When the battery is low, you can charge it with the magnetic micro USB charger. You can also connect the Tech-Air 5 via Bluetooth with the Tech-Air app. In this app you can display the system's operational status, battery status and a detailed analysis of your ride. The system's filmware can also be directly updated via the app. The Tech-Air 5 has two different modes: STREET and RACE. The street mode allows you to ride safely on the road and the race mode is made for closed-course racetracks only. 

Can I wear this airbag system under my jacket?

Yes, you can wear the Tech-Air 5 under any jacket, as long as it has stretch-ability or 4 cm/2 inches of room around the chest (on the inside) in case of textile jackets. This room is needed to allow expansion of the airbag in case of a crash. For leather jackets you need around 4 cm/2 inches of space around the circumference of the body. If you want a sports leather jacket, you can choose a Tech-Air 5 compatible leather jacket from Alpinestars. They have built-in leather expansion panels.
