Top 10 motorcycle jackets for winter 2019/2020
Riding in winter conditions can be tough. But as the old saying goes: “There’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes!”. Luckily manufacturers seem to be really getting this and are providing us with plenty of proper motorcycle jackets for winter riding and even take different styles into consideration. These are our 10 favorite motorcycle winter jackets!
SPIDI 4SEASON JACKET
It’s probably not a surprise with a product name like that, but the Spidi 4Season is a true all-weather jacket. Aimed at adventure and adventure-touring riders, the 4Season features the Spidi Step-in-Clothing system, allowing you to clip-in different kinds of mid layers to suit your needs. The thermal layer that comes with this jacket is pretty top-notch to begin with though: it’s a nice and fluffy padded 100g full length detachable layer which can also be worn separately. The collar is nice and high, providing great comfort for your neck. The wind and waterproof H2Out membrane is also detachable, ideal for when winter is over and temperatures start rising again. Zip open the ventilation panels and you’re golden for summer. If you’re looking for a comfortable adventure-touring winter jacket that also ticks all the box in the other 3 seasons, the Spidi 4Season should definitely be on your list. Available in Black, Fluo Yellow and Grey Red.
REV'IT OFFTRACK JACKET
The REV’IT! Offtrack is new for 2019 and is an adventure jacket aimed at riders who like to spend lots of time off the beaten track. The Offtrack is perfect for winter thanks to its detachable thermal layer and waterproof hydratex®|G-liner membrane. Simply take out the layers you don’t need and the Offtrack adapts perfectly to the other seasons as well! What we love most about the Offtrack is its low weight and the amount of mobility this jacket offers. The slightly shorter cut is perfect for active riding and the jacket is noticeably less bulky than many other adventure jackets on the market right now. So if you’re after an adventure jacket for winter riding and mobility is key, check out the REV’IT! Offtrack! Available in Sand Black, Silver Green, Silver Blue and Silver Red.
DAINESE D-EXPLORER 2 GORE-TEX JACKET
Staying with adventure jackets, the Dainese D-Explorer 2 Gore-Tex jacket does it all. It’s a bit pricier than the Spidi 4Season and REV’IT! Offtrack but it’s perfectly explainable. The D-Explorer 2 is a premium jacket constructed from Dainese’s finest materials and offers true 4-season performance thanks to a 2-in-1 detachable insulated and waterproof 45.000mm Gore-Tex inner layer. The D-Explorer 2 has probably the largest ventilation panels we’ve ever seen on a 4-season jacket so it’s absolutely perfect for summer as well. The Dainese D-Explorer 2 is perfect if you’re looking for a highly protective and extremely versatile Gore-Tex jacket! Available in Ebony Black, Peyote Black, Glacier Grey Orange and Glacier Grey Bue Lava Red.
HELD MOLTO GORE-TEX JACKET
We have to be honest; the Held Molto is not perfect for winter riding because it lacks a thermal layer. At Held, they prefer to work with separately available mid layers and let you decide how much insulation you need. “Why is the Molto in this list then?”, you might ask. Well, the Held Molto is the most affordable Gore-Tex jacket in our store! Throw in a thermal layer like the Held Prime and the Molto turns into the perfect high quality waterproof, warm and cozy motorcycle winter jacket without putting a big dent into your bank account. Available in Grey Black and Black White.
MACNA EQUATOR NIGHT EYE JACKET
Every jacket in this list has something special to offer. The Macna Equator Night Eye jacket might look like a pretty average touring jacket but the Night Eye fabric reflects light in a way you haven’t seen before, turning the jacket into a bright, white beacon of visibility. If you find yourself on poorly lit roads during winter time, this jacket makes you extremely visible to other traffic when the light from their headlights hit you. Thanks to the 3-layer system (outer jacket, Raintex membrane and thermal layer), it provides all the creature comforts for riding in all 4 seasons. Should you need any extra warmth, the Equator is also prepared for the Macna Hot Vest. Available in Black, Dark Grey and Light Grey.
DAINESE TONALE D-DRY JACKET
New for fall 2019, the Dainese Tonale D-Dry stirs things up a little bit. Dainese has been developing their new D-Dry XT membrane and we are definitely impressed. This waterproof membrane is 4-way stretch and very comfortable to wear. In the Tonale D-Dry it’s laminated to the outer shell of the jacket, guaranteeing a levels of comfort and waterproof performance we previously only saw in laminated Gore-Tex jackets. The removable thermal layer in the Tonale D-Dry is quite thickly padded to provide great insulation and can also be worn separately. Available in Gracier Grey Blue, Ebony Black, and Lava Red.
FURYGAN CARTER JACKET
Furygan is just one of those brands that like to do things their way. The Carter is unmistakably Furygan: the aggressive yet subtle styling will appeal to street and sport riders alike looking for a winter riding jacket to match their own style. The fixed waterproof membrane will keep out the rain and you will also find a removable thermal layer to provide warmth and comfort for those colder days. When you add the fact that this jacket comes in at under €200,-, you will understand why we put the Furygan Carter on our list!
ALPINESTARS META DRYSTAR JACKET
The Alpinestars Meta Drystar will appeal to street and urban riders with its casual and sporty styling. The fixed Drystar membrane will keep you dry. We especially like the micro polar fleece thermal lining, which is very thin and lightweight, yet provides great insulation making the Meta Drystar perfect for winter as well. The detachable hood is not only stylish but is functional as well for when you get off the bike. The Alpinestars Meta Drystar is our favorite sporty urban motorcycle jacket for winter conditions!
REV'IT TRIOMPHE JACKET
The REV’IT! Triomphe is a stylish classic hooded parka for motorcycle riders. It’s part of the new fall 2019 collection by REV’IT! and ticks all the boxes for all-season urban riding. From a distance (and even up close) it doesn’t really look like a motorcycle jacket but it really is. We love the long cut and hood and on the inside you will find a hydratex®|G-liner waterproof membrane and a nice detachable quilted thermal layer, making it perfect for colder days in the city. If you ask us, the Triomphe is one of the most stylish winter motorcycle jackets for urban riding to date! Available in Dark Blue and Black.
HELSTONS CRUISER JACKET
Leather retro-styled motorcycle jackets tend to be about form and less about function. Not with the Helstons Cruiser jacket! This leather jacket is just as stylish as it is versatile. On the inside you will find a waterproof membrane and a removable thermal layer, meaning you can ride your classic bike all year round in style and comfort. For this list we took the Cruiser, but Helstons has a couple more vintage and retro leather motorcycle jackets for winter riding in their lineup so make sure to check those out as well! Available in Black leather and Camel colored leather.
