The story of Sidi goes back to 1960. In the region of Veneto, at the foot of the beautiful Dolomiti mountain range, a small workshop started manufacturing mountain sports and hiking shoes. Being very aware of upcoming trends, in 1970 Sidi shifted their focus to motorcycle boots and cycling shoes. As offroad motorcycle riding was very popular in Italy back then, they mainly produced motocross boots for riders such as Joël Robert, the 250cc world champion in 1964 and 1968 through 1972.

The Sidi motorcycle boots became synonymous to quality, great protection and comfort. In 1993 Sidi introduced the first offroad boots with a replaceable sole, the Top Action SRS. Their SRS feature is still a strong point of focus for Sidi, as they now still lead the offroad boot market with their Sidi motocross boots.

But of course, Sidi didn’t stop there! With the introduction of bikes like the GSX-R 750 and Kawasaki Ninja series, racing bikes became more popular among street riders and they had a new set of demands for boots. Quickly adjusting to the situation, Sidi launched their first proper racing boots in 1995. Before then, sports riders usually used simple leather boots without much protection but Sidi understood more was needed. Their first boots featured removable toe sliders, an impact protector at the shin, reinforced toe box and heel cap and ankle protection. Basically it looked exactly like the racing boots available on the market today! Their lust for technological advancement never died and as a result, just a few years later we started seeing the first Sidi racing boots with extra protective features like rotational hinges at the ankles, protection to prevent over-extension even external ankle braces. Much of these features also found their way to their motocross line up, making full circle!
